Strachur, in a beautiful area of Argyll, is a small fishing village with a few local amenities and the world famous Creggans Hotel just down the road. The larger town of Dunoon is only 20 miles away for that bit of shopping. Alternatively if you are looking for a day out in Argyll, the Arrochar Alps and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs are all within easy reach by car. With so many places of interest and stunning views over Loch Fyne, Greenlea villa is the perfect getaway in Argyll.
Strachur is only 1 hour 20 minutes from the centre of Glasgow and 2 hours 20 minutes to Edinburgh.
The village of Strachur, in the Cowal Peninsula of Argyll, lies on the eastern shore of Loch Fyne, in the Firth of Clyde. It is 20 miles north of Dunoon and 21 miles from Inveraray.
Lovely house in a beautiful location.5/5 Stars Upfront Reviews - August 2024Greenlea is a lovely holiday cottage with spectacular views which you never tire of, whatever the weather. It's cosy and warm, very clean and has all you need. The garden is very pretty and it's great to have off road secure parking. The owner is very kind and helpful and said if we needed anything or advise, just to give her a shout. We visited some wonderful locations which weren't too far away but a must, is to visit Southend and Mull of Kintyre. The views are specular and the beach you'll have to yourselves.
Enjoyed some eats at the Teashop and a meal at Creggans Inn, both very good, well worth a visit. Got shopping delivered via Morrison's.
The only thing that we didn't realise was how busy the road can be at all hours.
And just a couple of things I missed, a towel in the kitchen, even though there were plenty of tea towels, some extra tall glasses and a hook in the bathroom to hang your dressing gown on. Other than that, Greenlea is a great holiday home which you will certainly enjoy. My husband and I did.
Excellent house and location.5/5 Stars Upfront Reviews - June 2024We would highly recommend this house for a family break, it is in pristine condition, very cosy, has comfortable beds and seating and high quality kitchen facilities. Great views, tranquil but with lots to do in and around Argyll. We went walking in Argyll Forest Park (Puck’s Glen in particular was lovely), went shopping in Inveraray and Dunoon, went kayaking at nearby Loch Goil, to Oban for a sea safari and also did the Loch Fyne boat tour. Ardkinglas woodland garden and Benmore botanic gardens are also very close by, both well worth a visit and were very quiet midweek in June. Could easily spend another week in the area, whatever the weather!
A perfect Winter retreat.4.8/5 Stars Upfront Review - January 2024We needed some time together as a family to detox from Christmas travel and Greenlea was perfect, a beautiful, tranquil house (I always like to stay somewhere that is just a bit more stylish than my own home so i feel inspired- and this fit the bill!) , everything that we needed, including the little downstairs sitting area, and the huge window sills for those who needed quiet time with a book, and that view!!! Amazing! A real highlight was being able to watch my son paddleboard on the Loch whilst inside with a cup of tea! Lynda’s communication was clear and timely, and we really appreciated the message saying we didn’t need to check out at 9am as there were no guests expected that day. Thank you!
Lovely cottage with great views4.4/5 Stars Upfront Review - September 2023The cottage was lovely all you could ask for with great views, would recommend to anyone, with some great village and towns to visit.
Fabulous location with wonderful views.5/5 Stars Upfront Reviews - May 2023The property has been tastefully modernised with all modern conveniences. We had a very enjoyable holiday and found many varied and interesting places to visit from Inverary Castle to Benmore Gardens. The Hill House at Helensburgh is also worth the trip if you don't mind a 1 hour drive. Best of all was Puck's Glen which was an unexpected gem. Highly recommended.
Fantastic holiday home.
5/5 Stars Upfront Reviews - April 2023
We had a great week staying in this holiday house. The views are amazing over the loch, no matter what the weather was like, and the house was so nicely renovated and furnished.
Great location for visiting numerous places, usually within 25 mins drive.
Wonderful Scottish Holiday at Greenlea x
5/5 Stars Upfront Reviews - September 2022
We had a fabulous stay at this house, the photos are great but the real thing is even better. We were blessed with sunshine in mid September but the amazing views would be great whatever the weather. The house is pristine with lovely interior design, really comfy beds, really good shower, really good wifi, really nice cookware and crockery. There is a little local shop just down the road but I would advise as we did bring some essentials with you so you don’t waste your holiday shopping for supplies. There are loads of lovely restaurants, fantastic walks and towns to visit we could have easily stayed another week there is so much to do. Thank you Lynda and Stewart
Fabulous cottage on Loch Fyne
5/5 Stars Upfront Reviews - September 2022
Greenlea is a fabulously clean, comfortable, warm, well appointed modern cottage with superb views from practically every window across Loch Fyne.
The best property we have ever stayed in!
5/5 Upfront Reviews - August 2022
The property has been renovated to an excellent standard and the decor and style of the accommodation was second to none.
As with a previous property of these owners that we have stayed in, the cottage was spotlessly clean. Great location for easy access for places to eat, Creggans Inn [five minute walk], Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, Inver Restaurant - all serving great food ! We also had an amazing visit to Portavadie. Combined with the beautiful views and amazing sunsets and everything you need for your stay, we will definitely be back !
Stunning home and beautiful views
5/5 Upfront Reviews - August 2022
House was absolutely immaculate - like a show home. All brand new, beautifully decorated with stunning views over the water.
There for Cowal Highland Gathering - took about 20 minutes to get to Dunoon and definitely worth the journey for this.
Would definitely return.
A Fyne Holiday!
4.8/5 Upfront Reviews - July 2022
A lovely modernised property in a traditional setting, with stunning views over the constantly changing tides and atmosphere of beautiful Loch Fyne and direct access to the shore right across the road. Note: The road can be quite busy during the day as it’s used by locals, tourists and logging lorries, so there’s some noticeable noise at times, but this gradually diminishes as evening approaches and didn’t detract from our stay.Re. Access to the Loch; We had no problem getting a paddle board down and into the water. Greenlea also has a large private garden perfect for relaxing when you’re not out & about - or enjoying the amazing view from the (upstairs) living room. The shoreline is great for good old fashioned Beachcombing and collecting interesting pebbles etc - our car did weigh a bit more than it should’ve on the way home!
There’s a local shop & cafe within easy walking distance and also a handy petrol station and the famous Creggans Inn is just along the road for meals. We visited Inveraray, Dunoon, Loch Eck and also roamed the local area including a ruined castle not far away, so Greenlea is a great base for exploring.
All in all an excellent stay in first class accommodation in a beautiful area of Scotland. Highly Recommended.
Great holiday home!
4.7/5 Upfront Reviews - Jan 2022
Greenlea was a fantastic holiday house with an amazing view looking down Loch Fyne. The house has been refurbished and decorated in a modern contemporary style with an open plan living space - we enjoyed spending time there when the weather was bad. There is also a lovely garden to relax in when the weather is better. There is a bit of occasional road noise but you don't see the traffic as the lounge is on the first floor. The Creggans Inn is a short walk away which is handy for eating out or going for a drink.
Scenic loch-side location, coastal retreat boasts spectacular sea views, sleeps 4
5/5 Stars Vrbo March 2022
Greenlea is probably the best holiday villa we have rented. Spotlessly clean, modern, warm and dry. Superbly appointed. Hassle free dealings with letting agents and owners who are exceedingly friendly and on hand. Simply terrific.
Beautifully and stylishly decorated

Really enjoyed our stay here.
Decor stylish.
Views amazing.
Loved the driftwood Xmas tree.
Owners very accommodating and helpful re entry/exit times.
We love to cook when we're away so a few more kitchen utensils would have been useful. Also mirrors in bedrooms would be good for drying/styling hair.
However, these are very minor points- mainly for feedback to the owners.
A fabulous location overlooking Loch Fyne5/5 Upfront Reviews - December 2021A beautiful retreat on the shores of Loch Fyne. It was a special Christmas reunion and a return to Argyll where we had fond memories.
Greenlea is newly refurbished to a very high standard, deceptively spacious and very comfortable with soaring views of lake, mountains and sky. We didn’t want to leave!
Scenic loch-side location, coastal retreat boasts spectacular sea views, sleeps 4
October 2021
The property was fantastic. The decoration and furnishings were excellent, and despite a couple of wet and windy days the house was cosy and a great place to relax after long walks. The view across the Loch is spectacular and we were lucky enough to get some wonderful sunsets. I would highly recommend the property and we hope to be back to visit again.
All round excellent
Sept 2021
The location was stunning - looking down the loch westwards and towards the setting sun! It was also well placed for walks, ferries and tourist spots. it had a well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. Although the weather was a bit rainy at times, it didn't affect our holiday there are so many alternatives to hand. would definitely visit again.
Amazing Cottage with wonderful views of Loch Fyne
Sept 2021
What an amazing cottage, very clean and so comfortable. We had a wonderful stay at this cottage. Really enjoyed the ever changing views of Loch Fyne from the wonderful window seat in the upstairs lounge Cottage was very well equipped with everything we needed for our stay and furnished to a very high spec. Very convenient for visiting Inverary, Dunoon and we even went to Isle of Bute for a day which was wonderful. Lots of great walks nearby also. Creggans Inn just a few minutes walk from the house, very convenient if you fancy a drink. Recommend Brambles in Inverary and Coylet Inn on Loch Eck for meals. Definitely recommend this beautiful cottage and hope to return again some time in the future.
We stayed at Greenlea Cottage in Strachur.
Aug 2021
The cottage is amazing and the views from it are beautiful. Very clean and tidy, and well equipped. It’s very well placed for exploring Argyll, and has good local amenities with a lovely local pubs (Creggins Inn just a few paces, and the Coylett Inn a short drive. Handy local petrol station and convenience store.) Lots of exploring to do; We went down to Dunoon, off to Inveraray, up to glencoe and over to Oban and then on to Seil and each trip was amazing. Can’t recommend this cottage enough! Would love to visit again!Unbeatable views
Aug 2021
We really enjoyed our stay. The property is well-appointed, very comfortable, thoughtfully laid out and with wonderful views down the length of the loch. We would be very happy to return!
The perfect get away. Views that will stay with you for a lifetime.
August 2021
We had the best time at Greenlea. The accommodation is spotless and very well equipped for all of your needs. We loved the window view of the loch. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking and there is a laundry room for washing, drying and ironing clothes. There is plenty of space in the property for a family with spacious bedrooms and living areas, family bathroom and ensuite. A two minute walk to the pub which has lovely views. We went swimming in the loch which is directly infront of the property. There are lots of local walks and a small shop and petrol station nearby. There is a lovely garden space for the kids to play or adults to relax and enjoy the sunset. The sun set views are breathtakingly beautiful. There is lots of wildlife to spot, we saw seals and lots of fish/crabs and birds. There are plenty of places to visit in the car too, Inverarry Castle, Jail and town with plenty of shops/cafes. Dunoon has a ferry if you want to travel over the Loch and has a Morrisons where we did our shop. We visited Loch Goilhead where we went paddle boarding. We took the kids to The Fyne Den play centre which they loved. The gruffalo walk and Argyll gardens is about 10 minutes away. We drove to Otterferry beach which is amazing for swimming and crabbing. We visited Loch Fyne restaurant which was amazing. If you want an action packed holiday or just a chilled holiday with the perfect loch views this is your place. The only down side was having to leave! Would highly recommend.
